DO OR DIE

In December of 2010, there came a call to lay down the life for another. There was no one else to do it, and it didn’t matter; the duty and appointment were mine alone, appointed by God.
It appeared this person’s life was on the line. He was suspected and accused of, condemned, and hunted for alleged horrific crimes perpetrated in his country Guatemala many years ago. Was he guilty? I didn’t honestly know and curiously, it didn’t matter. In my contemplation of these things, warned by a lawyer and realizing we could lose everything, a tune came to me in the middle of the night of January 30/31, 2011, followed by these words.
I happened to have a recorder by my bedside at the time, which I never had available for any other song previously. I had forgotten this tune over the years but was able to retrieve it on the recorder in May 2016.

Em dezembro de 2010, veio uma chamada para dar a vida por outra. Não havia mais ninguém para fazer isso, e não importava; o dever e compromisso eram só nossos, designados por Deus.
Parecia que a vida desta pessoa estava em jogo. Ele era suspeito e acusado, condenado e caçado alegados crimes horríveis em seu país distante, Guatemala, e há muitos anos. Na minha contemplação destes assuntos, percebendo que poderíamos perder tudo, uma melodia veio até mim no meio da noite de 30/31 de janeiro de 2011, seguido por estas palavras (Infelizmente, não me lembro da melodia).
Por acaso, eu tinha um gravador ao lado da minha cama, que eu nunca tinha disponível para nenhuma outra música anteriormente. Eu havia esquecido essa música ao longo dos anos, mas consegui recuperá-la no gravador em maio de 2016.
